(larra-kia), Kungarakan (koon-gar-akan), Gurindji (ger-in-ji) and French writer and performer.Robert Fielding is a contemporary artist of Yankunytjatjara, Western Arrente,
Pakistani and Afghan descent, who lives in the Mimili Community in the
remote Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (APY) Lands. In his
practice, he combines strong cultural roots with contemporary
perspectives, sharing a unique view at the threshold between remote
community life and global narratives. Wyndham City Council has foregrounded the work of First Nations artists in
their Visual Art Collection for over ten years and is proud to have one
of the largest Local Government collections. The exhibition ENDURING
features the past two years of acquisitions, displaying six artists
works of the 56 artworks included in the collection demonstrating the
strength of the collection. Tony Albert, Maree Clarke, Michael Cook,
Peter Waples-Crowe, Karen Casey and Aunty Marlene Gilson feature
significant works in ENDURING that centre around history, place and
identity.
