Wear it Purple Day - 29 August 2025

Wear it Purple Day is about showing LGBTIQ+ young people that they have the right to be proud of who they are. It is about creating safe spaces in schools, universities, workplaces and public spaces to show LGBTIQ+ young people that they are seen and supported.

Supporters wear purple to celebrate diversity and young people from the LGBTIQA+ community. The colour purple was chosen as it brings people together and forms unity. Shades of purple, particularly lavender have been connected to and used as symbols throughout LGBTQ+ history. Wearing purple shows support and solidarity to LGBTQ+ youth.

Wear it Purple Day is held every year on the last Friday in August.
